Is The Watchtower Your Mediator?
The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society has set itself in the place of Jesus Christ as the doorway to God. They actively teach that a member of the “great crowd” cannot have a direct relationship with Jehovah or have Jesus as their mediator but must go through them in order to have that relationship. They claim that the only members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses who have a direct relationship with Jesus Christ are the “annointed” remnant of 144,000 spoken of in Revelation.
Before you tell me I’m wrong let me quote the Watchtower:
At a time when God was selecting those to be taken into that new covenant, the apostle Paul wrote that Christ was the “One mediator between God and men.’ (1 Tim. 2:5) Reasonably Paul was here using the word ‘mediator” in the same way he did the other five times, which occurred before the writing of 1 Timothy 2:5, referring to those then being taken into the new covenant for which Christ is “mediator.’ So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the “mediator” only for anointed Christians. The new covenant will terminate with the glorification of the remnant who are today in that covenant mediated by Christ. “This great crowd” of “other sheep” that is forming today is not in the new covenant. However by their associating with the little flock of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant.’ (Watchtower, 4/1/79, p. 31)
What does this circle of logic mean? The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society has set itself up as the mediator between man (any member of the great crowd) and God. This is in direct conflict with what the bible teaches on all levels!
Jesus, in John 10 puts it as plainly as anyone can:
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me.
The apostle Paul added the following:
1 Timothy 2:5:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
The fact is that Jesus came to die for our sins and release us from the Jewish law which included the use of an imperfect human high priest as a mediator!
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Being that this is truly the case and that the Watchtower has set itself up as the sole mediator between God and you then they have negated the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His shed blood for you. If you embrace this contrived theology and follow the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society the only relationship you will have is with them, not God. The bible is quite clear on this point.
Yours in Christ,
