Jehovah’s Witnesses: God’s Plan For You
For years I accepted as fact what other people told me God wanted for me. I followed in a lockstep with the rest of the Jehovah’s Witnesses not ever questioning my belief or what I had been taught by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.
After a long and difficult road I finally came to a realization:
If I really want to know what God wants to tell me I need to read what He wrote!
God didn’t write the “Youth Book”. He didn’t write “The Truth Book” or the “Aid Book” and he didn’t write the latest Watchtower magazine either.
As a matter of fact the only thing that all Christians agree upon is the fact that God inspired the writing of the holy bible. It was only when I started reading what God wrote in His word for myself without any influence or “helps” from well meaning but misled humans that the reality of what God wanted me to know was understood! It was so simple! It was remarkably easy to understand! It was liberating! I was free! Free from the enslavement to other humans and an organization that had placed needless burdens upon me and my family for decades. I was free from the enslavement to sin! I found out that the gift that God gave in His Son Jesus Christ was truly a free gift and not something I could ever earn!
Those reading this who have never been Jehovah’s Witnesses might not catch the immense gravity of what transpired when I realized that I was truly free from the influence of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. It was like the entire world had been lifted off of my shoulders. The fear, the paranoia, the guilt and the self-loathing all went away. God loved me unconditionally. ME! Not for how many doors I knocked on or how many Watchtower and Awake magazines I placed. Not for how many hours I spent in field service or how many meetings I made without missing. He loved me because He wanted to love me.
I can only compare that to the love of a small child. That child loves you not because you have a lot of money or because you have political connections. The child could care less about the car you drive, your level of education or the fancy restaurants you frequent or how high up in the corporation you are or if you shop at Walmart or Nordstroms. The child only knows that he loves you, period. That is the truest love in the universe and it is so intensely powerful that it melts away every single pretense and facade that this tired old world has forced on us. When you really feel God’s love not just on an intellectual level but deep down in your “heart of hearts” it changes you and you’re never the same after that.
The only way to lose a child’s love is from willful neglect. Food for thought isn’t it?
Jesus said it best:
1 About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”
2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Yours in Christ,
